Paula Modersohn-Becker Art Award 2020

14 November 2020 to 7 March 2021

The Paula Modersohn-Becker Art Award has been awarded by the District of Osterholz every two years since 2010, thereby underscoring the important role played by the visual arts in the region's profile and contributing greatly to Worpswede's reputation as a contemporary centre of art. Comprising a total of three individual prizes – the main prize, the special prize and the young talent prize – the Paula Modersohn-Becker Art Award aims at acknowledging artists with biographical ties to the state of Lower Saxony, artists presently living and working in the District of Osterholz as well as young artists from the region. A selection jury nominates at least four candidates from all entries for the main prize and selects the special prize winner and the young talent prize winner. The artists nominated for the main prize will be presented with a selection of their works at the Barkenhoff and Große Kunstschau. On this basis, the prize jury will select the main prize winner. The main prize is endowed with 7,500 euros.
