Annual program 2017 of the Worpswede Museums

The Permanent and the Special exhibitions

Photography has a special significance in the artists' village of Worpswede from its beginnings to today. Often the medium is, however, in the shadow of traditional painting. All this is reason enough to put photography in a new light. With the exhibitions of Rüdiger Lubricht and his companions and of Jürgen Strasser in the Große Kunstschau, very different, pointed photographic standpoints are presented.

A second exhibition focus is dedicated to Paula Modersohn-Becker. Following the artist's footprints, the museums present in spring and summer the place, the landscape and the circle of the artists who shaped Paula Modersohn-Becker.

"Art is an experience, not an object," wrote the American surrealist Robert Motherwell, who is to be seen in Barkenhoff in the exhibition "Everything on Paper". In this spirit, we wish you lively encounters with art in the exhibitions of the Worpswede Museums in 2017!
